I. HUMILITY REVEALS THE CULTURE OF CHRIST

Philippians 2:3-4

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

The corporate ladder of the kingdom goes down not up.

Until we truly value the image of God IN all people we will continue to overlook the treasure OF all people.

The things of God that I say TO others are far better heard when partnered with the things of God I see IN others.

II. HUMILITY REVEALS THE CHARACTER OF CHRIST

Philippians 2:5-8 

Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.  And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Humility tangibly expresses our understanding of Grace

I have made a valuable application of electricity not because I was superior to other men but solely because God, who meant it for mankind, must reveal it to someone, and He was pleased to reveal it to me.

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.

III. HUMILITY REVEALS THE CALLING OF CHRIST

Philippians 2:9-11 

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

James 4:10

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.

Humility is gauged not by what we’re able to grasp but by what we are willing to let go.

1. How does humility run in opposition to the culture of this world?

2. What are some additional ways that Christ showed humility in His character?  How can those same traits be expressed in us?

3. In what ways do you see humility being a reflection of the hope you have in Jesus?
