Hope’s timing (v. 1-3)
Vs. 2 For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

Hope’s participant (v. 4-10)
Vs. 4 But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief.

Hope’s response (v. 8, 11-22, 25-27)
Because our hope is not simply confined to Christ’s 2nd appearance, it includes establishing his Kingdom of life, health, healing, wholeness, forgiveness, and joy NOW because of his 1st appearance. -
Hope’s sanctification (v. 23-24)
Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.
