Priorities: First Things First

Our main problem is not found in giving the right things a PLACE in our life, rather our main problem is found in giving the right things PRIORITY in our life.

Priority is the action of belief.

Jesus' schedule was never dictated by the cries of the people, it was ordered by the call of the Father.

I. WE’RE CALLED TO PRIORITIZE DESIRE FOR GOD

Matthew 6:33a

But seek first the kingdom of God…

This life is simply the vehicle to bring us into God’s life.

Making room for God’s impact on our world, means placing desire for God first in our world.

II. WE’RE CALLED TO PRIORITIZE CONNECTION TO GOD

Matthew 6:33b

…and his righteousness…

Luke 9:24-25

For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?

If we hold on to God then we have everything, but if we hold on to everything we lose God.

III. WE’RE CALLED TO PRIORITIZE HOPE FROM GOD

Matthew 6:33c

…and all these things will be added to you.

Jesus wants to order the priorities of our life by being the priority of our life.

Discussion Questions:

1. What does it look like to seek first God’s kingdom?

2. How have you experienced right relationship with Jesus? How do we know if we’re in right relationship or not?

3. When and how have you experienced Jesus adding all the other things to Your life because you were willing to put Him first?
