Prayer: Intercession

Series: 12:24: A Lent Series

Summary

Prayer: Intercession

Pastor Aaron Sutherland

Intercession is to entreat God on behalf of someone else.

Ezekiel 22:30
I looked for anyone to repair the wall and stand in the gap for me on behalf of the land, so I wouldn’t have to destroy it. But I couldn’t find anyone.

I. INTERCESSION ASKS US TO CARE WHEN OTHERS DON’T

 Ezekiel 22:30a
I looked for anyone to repair the wall and stand in the gap for me on behalf of the land…

When we fight against people we fight FOR the enemy, but when we fight against the enemy, we fight FOR people.

II. INTERCESSION ASKS US TO BELIEVE WHEN OTHERS WON’T

Ezekiel: 22:30b
...so I wouldn’t have to destroy it.

When we believe in faith, God can then act on our belief.

Matthew 21:22
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

III. INTERCESSION ASKS US TO ENGAGE WHEN OTHERS CAN’T

Ezekiel 22:30c
But I couldn’t find anyone.

Many may cry, but God is looking for those who will cry out.

“I can’t carry what you carry, but I can carry you.”
