Taking a Stand: What We Stand For

Pastor Dewayne Peters

Ephesians 6:13-17 (NLT)

Ephesians 6:13  "Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm."

Because you are fighting a spiritual battle against spiritual forces you must PUT ON Gods armor...  ALL of GODS armor SO THAT after the battle you will be standing firm.

Ephesians 6:14 "Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness."

We stand for truth because it guard’s our identity and fruitful life.

We stand for righteousness, so our hearts and lives remain in Gods care.

Ephesians 6:15 "For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared."

We stand for Peace to combat the enemy’s chaos.

The enemy tries to get me so consumed with my own struggles that I lose touch with my peace with God and neglect the mission of taking the peace to others.

Ephesians 6:16 "In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil."

We stand for Faith to drive our courage.

Ephesians 6:17 "Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

We stand for salvation for it is the power of God to change our minds.

As I know his promises, I know how they pertain to life’s situations.  As I know his interactions with women and men of faith in the past, I know how to interact with him in my present. And as I put both of those things together, I find a personal relationship and trust grows and blossoms with an acute sensitivity to his working and will in my life.

We stand for Gods word so we can know the true and living God.

None of our armor protects our backs.  We are called to rise up, to take our stand and to walk into this battle with our eyes fully fixed on the victory and person of Jesus Christ.
