God Has Already Prepared the Way

My husband and I have been on Sabbatical for three months and that has come to an end. As of today, we were back at the church! I am so very excited for all that God has ahead in this next season. I want to share with you a dream that I had about a week ago. I really believe that God speaks through dreams, you see it all throughout the Old Testament and New Testament where God would give things to people for a lot of different reasons and I believe He still does that today.

So I am going to share just briefly this particular dream. I’m not going to give you all the details, but I’m just going to share what the Lord spoke to me from that. The idea was that in the dream I was actually on a cooking show. I was with a friend of mine who, in real life, is a professional chef and he cooks for a living and when I am around him I know whatever he is making is good, he's passionate about food, it's always amazing, he has fun, he can taste things and knows things all about food. In the dream, he and I were in a cooking competition, and in this competition, he had literally prepared all the food. It was all done. All I had to do was serve the things he had prepared. I was really excited about it, it was really going to be amazing food. And if you know my friend Benji, he is just the coolest guy. So I knew that it was all taken care of, I knew that he had thought about everything and it was going to be amazing.

As I'm figuring out how to serve this food, my son Ethan was in my dream and he was my helper. He was going to help me prepare and serve the food. And then I look over, as I’m about to serve some food and I notice there was some poop on the ground! Right by this little area I was about to serve! I was so discouraged and distracted by it. I was worried it was going to get on the food, I was worried that it was going to smell, I was just worried about the whole thing. While I was distracted, I looked over at my friend Benji and he literally was not thinking twice about it. He was just as cool as normal and all he cared about was the food. I remember laying something on it so I wouldn't have to look at it and going back to where I was working.

And then I remember being excited about this coffee cake that I do make in real life (it’s really really amazing!). I started thinking, I’m going to make that, I want to make that too. How can I make that even more presentable, a little fancier for people than how I normally have it at home?  And that was the whole dream.

There are basically four things that I’m going to share with you that have been such an encouragement to me over these last few days from this dream. The first thing is that God has already prepared the way. He’s already thought about the goodness, he already knows the ingredients, he knows the right things, He’s passionate about it. All we get to do is just serve the things He's already prepared for us.

The second thing is that He’s going to give us strength. My son Ethan was in the dream and he was a helper to me. Well, Ethan's name actually means strength. So I know that whatever God has for us, that He is going to give us strength to do the things that He has called us to do. He just will. He will literally come alongside us, support us, and give us the strength to accomplish the things He is calling us to do.

The third thought is, don’t get distracted by the poop. It’s real, it’s there, it smells horrible, the disasters that we come up with in our mind of what could actually happen are potentially there, but they are not what we are here to focus on. Don’t get distracted by the poop. Keep your eyes on the real fun of serving and being who you’re called to be.

And the final thought is this: the last thing served will be amazing. There’s something else that God’s going to do in these last days that will absolutely be amazing. And He's going to use you, your unique giftings, your calling, your personality, all of who you are to do the thing that will be the best thing for what this world needs, for the people in your life. He knows exactly what that is.
